The 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China · Cute Panda Themed Paean Flash Mob at the Chengdu Panda Base

“Sing a folk song to the Party. I compare the Party to my mother...” To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, in cooperation with the Management Committee of the Chengdu Panda International Tourism Resort and the Bailianchi Subdistrict Office of Chenghua District, Chengdu, recently organized an extraordinary giant-panda-themed paean flash mob activity. Sunny and youthful keepers, scientific researchers and veterinarians, adorable primary school students, and enthusiastic citizens sang the song - Sing a Folk Song to the Party affectionately with the national flag fluttering in their hands. As the float moved slowly, this classic red melody lingered in every corner of the Panda Base.

The float began meandering slowly outside the Plaza of the Sunshine Nursery House, followed by four young people in overalls singing along. They are all young giant panda keepers in the Panda Base, who accompany the giant pandas all year round and keep an eye on the giant pandas through every step from estrus, mating, pregnancy, and delivery to cub rearing. In June, the breeding season for giant pandas, they need to take night shifts all the time, disrupting their sleeping schedules. Their stories also need to be known. Zhou Yaozu, a keeper who participated in the parade, said, “I am not tired. I feel quite honored to participate in this flash mob. By singing the song, I’m encouraged to remember my original ambitions and build a dream with one heart.”

Thereafter, on the Plaza of the Panda Scientific Discovery Center, accompanied by familiar melodies, two young researchers waved national flags and sang Sing a Folk Song to the Party with heartfelt affection. Dozens of visitors scattered around the plaza stopped and couldn't help but hum along.

Finally, the singer Sha Nanjie sang We Are All Dream Catchers live. The scene was injected with the atmosphere of the times through the dynamic melodies. Five Chengdu primary school student actors, accompanied by cheerful melodies, jumped up and down with joy. They spun and strode. They shifted through their moves, looking nonchalant yet skilled. Through their lovely dancing, they expressed their admiration and blessings to the Party, and consolidating their determination and confidence to follow the Party forever.

All participants from the Panda Base for this flash mob are young “panda people”. It is an important issue to promote the red spirit among young people in this new era and let that spirit be passed on and inherited to the next generation.
