Giant Panda Twins Born in the U.S. in 2016 Are Named “Ya Lun” and “Xi Lun” on their 100th Day of Life Proofreader: Charlene Johnson   Time: 2016-12-13

On December 12, 2016, Zoo Atlanta, U.S. held a “100 Day Naming Celebration” for giant panda twins “Ya Lun” and “Xi Lun” born in the U.S. this year.
“Lun Lun” gave birth to the twins on September 3 2016 at Zoo Atlanta; they were the only giant panda twins born in the U.S. this year. Their names “Ya Lun” and “Xi Lun” represent the giant panda Lun Lun's elegant and happy daughters.
On November 11, 2016, the Zoo confirmed that the twins are female, and the global naming contest began on November 21. “Ya Lun” and “Xi Lun” received the most votes of 23,400 votes.
Raymond B. King, President of Zoo Atlanta, stated at the “100 Day Naming Celebration” that “Ya Lun” and “Xi Lun” have been in good health since birth, the twins’ names indicate their healthy growth and the twins witness the friendly Sino-U.S. cooperation once again. The Mr. King also said that “Ya Lun” and “Xi Lun” are expected to make their first public appearance in December or January.
