Joint Delegation of Speakers from Nordic and Baltic Country Parliaments Visited Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding Proofreader:    Time: 2018-01-19

With all attention from multiple parties focused on erecting the Belt and Road, exchanges and cooperation have initiated across multiple fields, allowing China to strengthen its bonds with Nordic and Baltic. On the morning of January 12th, more than 40 delegates from the joint delegation of speakers from Nordic and Baltic country parliaments (Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Iceland) visited the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Chen Guomin, Deputy Secretary General of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), along with Tan Hongming, Deputy Secretary of Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding; and Base staff, accompanied their guests.    
Sichuan Province has laid a solid foundation upon which cooperation with Nordic and Baltic countries can flourish, and both sides have held frequent exchanges and high-level visits. During the visit on this very day, staff of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding addressed the delegation regarding giant panda protection and introduced related projects and achievements in research on breeding and international exchanges initiated by the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding as one of China’s important calling cards. The delegates unanimously endorsed all their efforts, and they all acquired a deeper understanding and appreciation for giant pandas, an iconic symbol of Chengdu. Tan Hongming, Deputy Secretary of the Base, reported on its development over the last three decades and its direction for the future to Chen Guomin, Deputy Secretary General of the Standing Committee of the NPC. He focused on research on giant panda breeding plus release and wildlife reintegration, public education, educational tours, external publicity, international cooperation, and cultural brand building
This visit concluded with the delegation expressing their full recognition and praise for work done and achievements earned by the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in its research on breeding, conservation education, and educational tours. In addition, it also strengthened their confidence in exchanging and cooperating with China and Sichuan in a variety of fields, including green energy resources, eco-environment protection, education, and tourism.
