“Home of Gian Panda” Club Membership
Become a member of "Panda Home". "Panda Home" was established at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in August of 2002. Its aim is broadening public participation in giant panda conservation, public education, fund raising, and promoting the development of science and technology through recruitment of international membership of those who care about giant pandas. "Panda Home" staff also provide information through guided tours for visitors and coordinate cooperative projects.
One: Philosophy
Earth is the home of humans, giant pandas and many other living things. Each life is irreplaceable within the diverse forms of life on our planet. Due to the unsustainable lifestyle and devastating economic activities of humans, all life (including humans), and the natural environment are facing environmental crisis, and decreased health and survivability. The enigmatic giant panda, as a symbol and flagship species of biodiversity and conservation, is drawing our attention to its plight. Humans, as the most intelligent species on the planet, have the duty to protect the giant panda, the environment, and ultimately ourselves.
Generations of scientists from the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, China, have spent decades and made great strides to develop infertile farmland into the current oasis which is the Research Base. The Research Base has increased a population of six unhealthy giant panda founder animals into the largest captive born population of 37 individuals. Dear friends, home and abroad, we welcome you to join our "Panda Home", extending your care, dedication and wisdom to our global mission.
